Standing out in a saturated rice marketplace is difficult. Cucolo rice offers microwavable pouches in their "ready to heat" line that are fully cooked in two and a half minutes. For this project, considerable attention was focused on creating a package design that was "fresh," and colorful. Set upon deeply saturated colors, intricate hand-drawn backgrounds were created for each package.

Final packaging artwork

Final lighting, texture and bump map for the outdoor scene. Setting up the rice grains in the bowls was a particular challenge as the physics involved can be very detailed in order to obtain realism.

All three patterned backgrounds were hand-drawn as oppossed to using vector art in this case as to provide a "warmer" more hand-made feel.
